Recently I’ve just completed my PhD thesis on places of live music. I was awarded funding from the Arts & Humanities Research Council to conduct this work, and over the past four years I’ve worked in and with venues to answer some questions about the ways in which these spaces get used by different groups of people.
Currently I work at 1000heads as a word of mouth analyst, tracking conversations online for multiple clients, and using social data to inform creative strategies for a number of brands.
Live music has always been a passion of mine, and, despite never being able to play any instrument beyond the recorder, I’m always at shows or tracking trending bands for the next big thing. If you want to see where I’ve gone and what gigs I’m planning on seeing find me on Songkick. Songs I like can be found on thisismyjam, and you can flick through my music library on Last.fm, or find me on Spotify.
Since watching my Dad cross the London Marathon finish line back in 2007 I’ve also been a runner – so far I’ve got 3 Marathons down, thats just 97 to go before I can join the 100 club. If you want, you can track my latest runs on Nike+ and see how I’m getting on. If I’ve been anywhere exciting recently you’ll find out through Foursquare, and you can see more of the sorts of things I’m interested in on Pinterest.
